MATH 6501 - Numerical Analysis Credits: 3 This course introduces students to scientific computation and numerical linear algebra. Topics include: root finding for nonlinear equations, approximation theory, including polynomial spline interpolation and best approximation, numerical linear algebra: direct and iterative methods for linear systems of equations; eigenvalue problems for matrices and their real-life applications.
Prerequisite(s): Math 2121 Calculus III and Math 3201 Linear Algebra and knowledge of a programming language in MATLAB or Departmental permission
