POLS 3222 - Constitutional Law and Policing

This course is designed to study one of the most controversial issues in American society from the perspective of constitutional law: policing and race. The course will examine the history of constitutional law on the matter of the power of governments to search, seize, detain, try, and punish residents in a society that values freedom.

Student Learning Outcomes

1. Students will analyze the development of constitutional rights and liberties via the case law of the US Supreme Court.

2. Students will write case reviews, including background and impact on jurisprudential doctrine.

3. Student will conduct a research project that explores a significant issue within the boundaries of the subject matter of the course.
