The Data Analytics undergraduate degree program is a joint effort between three colleges at Savannah State University (SSU): The College of Business Administration (COBA), The College of Sciences and Technology (COST), and the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS). The program will contain very low barriers to entry and draw on competencies from science and engineering, business, liberal arts and education. This degree will expose students to techniques for turning raw data into usable information by extracting actionable insights from big data then using it to identify trends, draw inferences, and surmise conclusions based on their analyses. The primary aim of this program is to equip our graduates with the hybridization of programming, information systems, applied statistics, management and business, data analysis and decision support in order to formulate managerial insights, and make decisions to help meet the changing landscape of 21st century big data. Upon completion of this degree program, graduates will be prepared for a wide range of career options across the public and sector which include but not limited to: Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Analyst, Consumer Insight Analyst, and Product Analyst.

First Year Experience


The students in this program will be recommended to take the COST 1103 or CLAS 1103 - Freshman Year Experience course because they are 2-credit hour course. Otherwise, the program hour will exceed 120 hours.

Choose 1 from the following (3 Hrs)


Upper Level electives in any major - 3000 and 4000 level (15 Hrs)


15 Credit Hours towards a Career-Path Track by selecting courses from any major*** offered at SSU

  • Courses must be from 3000/4000 level
  • Must be advisor approved
  • Classes from major elective courses are highly recommended

***The current focus of the program is Global Logistics and Supply Chain Analysis.
