- A Minor (15 Hrs): Mass communications majors can select a minor from one of the many minor programs offered by the university.
- Open Electives (15 Hrs): Students who choose not to minor in a specific discipline can instead complete 15 credit hours. These can be other COMM electives or courses outside the major. At least three of the courses must be 3000 level or higher.
- A grade of C is required.
